A three ton rogue rocket stage crashed into the Moon on March 4th at 7:25 a.m. EST (1225 GMT) on the far side of the Moon. It is the first known unintentional collision with the Moon involving a piece of space junk. NASA has indicated that its Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter will search for the resulting crater, but this will likely takes weeks to months.
