NASA TO BROADCAST PLANETARY DEFENSE TEST

Today, September 26th, beginning at 6 p.m. EDT, NASA will will host a televised briefing of the world’s first mission to test technology for defending Earth against potential asteroid or comet hazards. NASA’s Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) will show if spacecraft can autonomously navigate to a target asteroid and intentionally collide with it to change the asteroid’s motion. NASA's DART spacecraft is scheduled to impact the asteroid Dimorphos at 7:14 p.m. EDT, and will air on NASA TV and NASA's website. The public also can watch live on NASA social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
